Hello Everyone!46265655e96c91286342759929ce0468

A quick pause to reflect before we leap into another year of contributing towards the improvement of healthcare in developing countries. A massive thank you to all of our volunteers – each and every one has helped to make a difference. This month we have a sneak peak at one of our new destinations for 2017 – the Kingdom of Tonga, we share details of some financial assistance for medical electives and then we have fun with our new short video that gives a snapshot of volunteering in Nepal. Best wishes for 2017!

Happy reading, kind regards and please follow us on Facebook, Karin and Derek.

The hottest new destination for 2017 – Tonga

Tonga BeachThis Clinic and Pharmacy is the only GP practice on the main island and is based in the capital city of Nukuálofa. The clinic is run on a not-for-profit basis and aims to provide high quality primary health care. Chronic diseases such as diabetes and ischaemic heart disease are major issues in Tonga and the clinic also sees many cases of dermatology.

Tongan childThe clinic welcomes experienced GPs from Australia and NZ who would like to volunteer and provide holistic medical service to the local people in Tonga. The GP should be able to work independently although there is support from the clinic nurse, pharmacist, the clinic manual and the local hospital. Tonga is a friendly, safe, beautiful place to visit, and close to home. Take the family with you. With such limited primary medical care, you know you are able to make a difference. Contact us for more details.
