Who are we? We are passionate about improving access to quality healthcare for everyone. Globally. We need more volunteers to help make it happen. Many of our volunteers are keen to help treat patients and often take medical supplies or equipment as a donation.to the local hospital. By sharing their skills and knowledge, our volunteers help to develop the local staff. They often act as a mentor or coach and conduct training both on the job as well as more formally in the staff meeting room. This is a rewarding experience for our volunteers and it is also a more sustainable way of leveraging valuable skills.
Medical students, nursing students and all health care students are very welcome. While students are mainly involved in observing and assisting local staff, we like to think that international relationships are being created. Many students have a desire to return to the developing country after they have graduated so that they can make more impact.
We encourage students to gain international work experience and therefore we aim to create programs that are interesting, affordable, safe and well organised.
Derek Matz and Karin Eurell arrange worthwhile volunteer work for doctors, medical professionals, nurses, allied health practitioners, medical students and partners.

Karin and Derek are international specialists at DocTours Medical Volunteers. Both Derek and Karin are active members of Rotary International and Sailability because we are committed to volunteering and the desire to help others who are less fortunate.
We have travelled to each destination and developed relationships directly with local hospitals and medical clinics so that we can arrange the best placement for you. We inspect the accommodation to ensure it is comfortable, safe, secure and maintained to good local standards.

Derek successfully arranged high quality medical conferences for Australian doctors for over 25 years for DocTours and Amaco Travel. The conferences were always located in interesting destinations (including Cuba, Morocco, Russia, Namibia, Botswana as well as the Black Sea, the Amazon Jungle and the Silk Road). All details were meticulously handled so that doctors enjoyed an informative medical conference in conjunction with a fascinating journey.
During their travels, the doctors regularly expressed the desire to ‘give something back’ and that inspired the creation of our volunteering programs.
